PIMEX International Boat Show begins

January 8, 2010

PHUKET: The latest gleaming luxury yachts, water craft, sailing equipment and other hi-tech marine products are on show at Royal Phuket Marina’s exhibition hall for this year’s PIMEX International Boat Show, which officially opens tomorrow.

From Friday through Sunday, 45 luxury yachts and 80 exhibiting companies are welcoming potential buyers, families, hard-core boat junkies, or anyone just curious about all the fun that can be had on the water.

This year’s event boasts a new look and format, following PIMEX’s recent union with the Informa Yacht Group, affiliates of the world-leading Monaco and Abu Dhabi Yacht shows.

Some of the world’s largest luxury yachts will be on display. Stars of the show include: the 103-ft Mangusta, the biggest open yacht in the world; the largest flagship in the Ferretti range, the Ferretti 881 RPH; and the super luxurious Pershing 80, the first of it’s kind in Asia.

Other Luxury boat brands featured at the show include Sunseeker, Gulf Craft, Formula, Chris Craft, Princess, Riviera, Crowneline, Cranchi, Fairline, Horizon, and Mustang.

A unique amphibious vehicle is also featured and is accessible for close-up inspection.

Several Phuket-based property and residential marina projects are also exhibiting their top-quality offerings.

For sailing enthusiasts, Jeanneau, Bavaria Yachts, Hanse, Andaman Cabriolet will be represented, as well as a number of other brands and luxury charter boats measuring up to 20m.

A new development for this year’s show is the introduction of the Phuket Maritime Forum; a series of seminars combining the knowledge of international experts on maritime security with technical experts in their specific fields.

Organized by the Human Development Forum Foundation (HDFF), the Phuket Maritime Forum will facilitate discussions on harbor security, archipelago states security, security of sea lanes, and new sustainable technologies.
