Pattaya Dive Festival 2010

October 29, 2010

Pattaya Dive Festival 2010 on Saturday 13 November 2010 is organized by Mermaid Dive Center’s Danish Managing Director Peter Waagensen in cooperation with other operators, Dive Indeed, Dive Now, Innovative Diver, and Wahoo Diving Center and supported by True Explore, Amarin Outdoor Unlimted and Reflection Condominium.

The overall purpose of Pattaya Dive Festival 2010 is to get as many people in the water in Pattaya City area. In the process, Peter Waagensen and his co-organizers hope to promote scuba diving in general as well as create awareness of the need of marine preservation in Pattaya City area.

“We want more divers in Bangkok to be aware of Pattaya as their local dive area,” he says.

Pattaya is already famous among divers world wide for especially the two ship wrecks, The Hardeep, a cargo ship that sunk during World War II, and the Petchburi Bremen, an old freighter and now a hiding place for groupers and barracudas.

As many as 500 – 600 participants are expected to take part in the activities on Saturday 13 November. The program starts early in the morning with registration from 7 – 8 o’clock. After breakfast on the pier, 16 dive boats will at 9 o’clock be heading out for the great diving sites just off the coast of Pattaya around the islands Koh Larn and Koh Krok.

First activity is a Treasure Hunt by Reflection at Koh-Nok for non-certrified divers and an underwater photography dive at Koh-Krok for certified divers. When not hunting or in the water, staff will educate participants about what to do and not to do in diving.
After lunch which will be served onboard the boats, participants will dive into the largest underwater clean up operation ever to take place on the reefs and beaches around Koh Larn.
Eventually, around 16.00 the participants will be heading back to Bali Hai pier and then head straight for dusitD2 baraquda Pattaya where a cocktail party will kick off a huge after-dive party going on until midnight.
