Pattaya to host Jet Ski King’s Cup

November 1, 2011

Watersports fanatics are set to descend on the Thai resort of Pattaya for the Jet Ski King’s Cup at the start of December.

Four top racers from each participating nation, including Thailand, will contest the World Cup Grand Prix event from Friday December 2nd to Sunday December 4th.

Between 2008 and 2010, more than 10,000 people turned out to watch the tournament, which has continued to grow thanks to increased press coverage.

Over 300 million households will be able to enjoy footage of this year’s championship thanks to a new broadcasting deal with ESPN Starsports.

“This fact confirms to us that jet ski is more than ready to create a fan club in the international mass media,” said the Thai Jet Sports Boating Association in a statement.

Total cash prizes of more than $160,000 (£99,000) are up for grabs in the Jet Ski King’s Cup, with money awarded to the top three finishers in each class.

Among the categories that will be contested at the competition are Pro Ski Open, Pro Sport GP, Pro R/A 800 Open, Pro Freestyle and Pro R/A Open.
