Phuket for kids: Splash Jungle Waterpark

May 10, 2012

Among Phuket’s top kid-friendly attractions is Splash Jungle Waterpark, which opened back in 2010.

The attractions at Phuket’s Splash Jungle Waterpark will keep most kids happy for an afternoon, at least. Though it’s not massive, it’s a clean, safe facility with a decent selection of waterslides, a play area for younger kids, a wave pool, lazy tube river and “hot spring.”

There are two onsite cafes selling the usual Western fare like burgers, fish and chips and a few Thai dishes.

Suitably, the sprawling high-end resort is ideal for families as many of its rooms and suites feature their own kitchens equipped with washer/drier, dining area and living room.

Downside for some, selling point for others is White Sands’ location. It’s on Mai Khao Beach near Phuket’s international airport, one of the remaining undeveloped strips of sand on Phuket.

Breaking the quiet of the beach is the regular rumble of airplanes firing up their engines and taking off — a great photo op in spite of the noise as they can be seen cruising in and out of Phuket down the beach from White Sands.

Here’s a quick look at some of Splash Jungle’s attractions.

The dreaded Boomerango. On this one, an inner-tube is sent rushing down a waterslide to build up speed before you’re whipped like a slingshot high up a 15-meter high wall. After the reverse free fall, cruise into a splashdown pool.

The Super Bowl. This one might leave you feeling more nauseous than a pregnant lady in the throes of morning sickness.

In addition to the “Super Bowl” and Boomerango, Splash Jungle has three regular waterslides.

Live out your battle fantasies in the Aqua Play Pool, with its water bomb cannons and guns.
Splash Jungle Waterpark is open daily, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Adults: 1,295 baht. Children: 650 baht (5-12 years old). Kids under 5 are free. 65 Moo.4 Thanon Maikhao, Thalang Phuket. www.splashjunglewaterpark.com. +66 (0)76 372 111
