Phuket Tops For Australian Tourists
Thailand is top of the travel itinerary for Australian holiday makers, who are enjoying a strong Aussie dollar and cheap air fares to nearby destinations, including Phuket and other parts of Thailand.
Australians reportedly took a total of 132 million nights out of the country between July 2010 and July 2011, heading mainly for New Zealand, the USA and Canada, Indonesia, the United Kingdom and Thailand.
Australian tourism authorities say there has been a sharp increase in the number of Australians holidaying abroad in places like Phuket with a nine per cent rise in the last two years.
Aussies feel especially at home here in Phuket with many Aussie bars in Patong and other tourist spots around Phuket serving up pub lunches and offering Aussie sports on widescreen TVs.
