Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2012

Thailand is a paradise for shoppers from all over the world, with a wide range of products and services, good quality, and value for money. One of the programs that is recognized among tourists is the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale (ATGS), the annual sale season which has been held for 14 years.

For the “Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2012,” to be held from 15 June to 15 August 2012, the TAT’s target is to reach 15,000 participating department stores, retail outlets, duty free shops, hotels, airlines, jewelry shops, spas, golf courses, restaurants, travel agencies, and hospitals in seven major cities: Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Samui Island, Hat Yai, and Phuket.

For this 14th year, the TAT will focus on categories preferred by tourists, such as Thai OTOP products and Thai fashion brands. It will be branching out into flea markets and wholesale markets such as MBK and Platinum Mall. There will be more fun for tourists to experience shopping and Thai style at shopping & walking streets in each major city and also new shopping destinations for tourists to experience and enjoy, such as “TERMINAL 21”, located on Sukhumvit Road, the first shopping mall styled as an airport with an inspired atmosphere of street markets from all around the world that offers a new experience and answers the needs of every urban lifestyle. “ROBINSON Rama 9” is located in the new Central Plaza Grand Rama 9 complex. With over six floors of sale areas that embrace the modern lifestyle, a fresh, functional, and fashion conscious design is indicated through unique personalities of each floor. “MEGABANGNA” is located on Bangna-Trad Road, Km. 8, just a 15-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The first low-rise super-regional mall in Southeast Asia, with the concept of “Everything Under One Roof,” it is open for the first time to all shoppers.

Mr. Suraphon Svetasreni, Governor of the TAT, said, “The TAT recognizes the importance of the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale in line with strategies and policies of the government to increase the expenditures of both international and domestic tourists, ensuring that the 14th year of ATGS, the TAT would be able to draw attention of the tourists because of our advertisements and public relation programs which access to the domestic tourists and expats effectively by newspapers, magazines, television, radio, outdoor billboards, and bus wraps together with social networks and online marketing. In addition, the TAT has also partnered with VISA International (Thailand), packing ATGS travel packages to launch into international markets during ATGS road show to 12 countries: Japan, China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Russia, India, and Dubai. This will ensure that the Amazing Thailand Grand Sale this year will increase the volume of tourists at least 10% during June to August.”

Somboon Krobteeranon, Country Manager, Thailand, VISA, said, “Thailand is renowned as one of the best shopping destinations in the world and Visa is committed to ensuring that we provide even greater incentives so everyone can take advantage during this shopping extravaganza. We have partnered with the Tourism Authority of Thailand since the launch of this promotion more than 13 years ago and we believe that this year will be even bigger and better than ever.

“Partly, this is due to our promotion programs in key target markets which generates more awareness and interest in the Grand Sale and has resulted in an increase in sales. Another factor was the competition that we launched to win a fantastic 30-day holiday in Thailand, which was won by a Malaysian tourist, and that is a contest that we shall be running again this year.”

He added, “With the addition of exciting new shopping venues along with existing favourites, tourists will have an astounding range of products and services to choose from and we look forward to promoting the Grand Sale and Thailand throughout the region.”

The Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2012 is more valuable for tourists, with sale prices reduced up to 80% and every THB500 spent in cash at participating shops and services, tourists will get 1 coupon (2 coupons in every THB500 for purchases with a VISA card). Domestic tourists will get a chance to win THB1,000,000 shopping voucher and foreigner tourists will get a chance to win the lucky-draw of a “Miracle 30 Day in Thailand”.

Along with one companion, prize winners will visit Thailand for 30 days, with first-class round-trip air tickets, domestic round-trip air tickets as per the tour program, transfers, accommodation at deluxe hotels, meals, entrance fees for all sites, Thai lifestyle and cultural experiences and guides.

The token coupon will be drawn on 20 September 2012, at the ASIA Airport Hotel. The names of the winners will be published on the website: http://www.tourismthailand.org/thailandgrandsale on 10 October 2012.
