Welcome to the Phuket International Soccer 7s!

October 30, 2012

The Phuket International Soccer 7s are Football Tournaments held on the beautiful and popular Thailand tourist destination of Phuket Island in the Andaman Sea.

The Phuket Soccer 7’s, organised by Reperages Thailand, is the premier soccer tournament in Thailand if not Asia. This year Absolute World Group will be sponsoring the Hong Kong All Stars.

Hong Kong All Stars was formed in 2009, by founding members and players, Dirk Haddow and Stefan Fuchs. All our players are active footballers in the DB 7-a-side teams, with most players participating on Sunday evenings at the DBIS pitch. They were formed in order to specifically participate in the 2009 Phuket Soccer 7’s, and since then have returned every year, playing in both the Open and Masters competitions of the Andaman 7’s weekend of the tournament.

Their record at this event for the past three seasons is as follows:

2011 Andaman 7’s Open Tournament – Plate Champions
2011 Andaman 7’s Masters Tournament – Knocked out in the Cup Q/F
2010 Andaman 7’s Open Tournament – Knocked out in the Cup S/F
2010 Andaman 7’s Masters Tournament – Cup Champions
2009 Andaman 7’s Open Tournament – Knocked out in Plate S/F
2009 Andaman 7’s Masters Tournament – Bowl Champions

The tournament is spread over two weekends, one being the Andaman tournament, which we attend, the other the Phuket tournament. It is now celebrating its 10 year anniversary, and more details about the league can be found on their website at http://www.thai7s.com/phuket/

Both tournaments have different age group competitions – Open and Masters, and Hong Kong All Stars commits a team for both groups.Football is of a high standard, with ex professionals in attendance.

The 2011 tournament had 20 teams in the Open section and 14 teams in the Masters section from all parts of Asia, as well as Australia, the Middle East and even Europe.

Each weekend consists of two days of tournament football as follows:

Day one – group stage
Day two – knock-out stage, with team positions from day one determining whether a team enters the cup, plate or bowl competitions.
