Spring Airlines to Launch Phuket Service from June 26
China’s largest budget carrier, Spring Airlines Company Limited (9C) announced that it will launch a non-stop roundtrip service to Phuket, Thailand from June 26, to further expedite 9C’s network in Southeast Asia destinations. It is scheduled to fly between Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) and Phuket International Airport (HKT) three times a week.
An Airbus A320 will be deployed on 9C’s Shanghai-Phuket route, and operated every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Flight 9C8971 is scheduled to take off from PVG at 11:00 p.m. and arrive in Phuket at 03:15 a.m. the next day; while the return flight 9C8972 is scheduled to depart from HTK at 04:15 a.m. and land in Shanghai at 10:00 a.m.(all local time).
To celebrate the coming inaugural flight, the carrier is going to conduct an advertising campaign with a theme of “which stewardess / steward you want to encounter?” on its official Weibo account “Spring Airlines”. The Weibo users may have the chance to win a Shanghai-Phuket round-trip ticket by selecting their most favorite stewardess / steward from six flight attendants and then @ one friend on Weibo with the content of “the selected flight attendants + the campaign link”. Meanwhile, the ones who receive the most votes will serve on Shanghai-Phuket’s inaugural flight.
The newly opened Shanghai-Phuket indicates that 9C is speeding up its market expansion in Southeast Asia. Starting April 29 this year, 9C increased frequency on Shanghai-Bangkok route every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which helps the carrier have three flights daily at most on Bangkok service. In addition, the carrier is going to open several new routes to Southeast Asia this year, as well as add routes to Northeast Asia gradually.
