A total of 12 gold medals are on offer on the opening day of the Asian Beach Games which consist of 6 gold medals apiece in sambo and yuyitsu.
The first Games gold medal is expected to be awarded in the women’s 52kg sambo, of which the final round will take place on November 12 at 17.24pm.
Patcharee Pichaipat, national sambo head coach, admitted that Thailand stand a difficult chance to snatch a first Asian Beach Games gold medal in sambo.
“It’s quite difficult for us to win the first Games gold in the sambo competition. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, both of them get familiar with the sport, have a better chance of fighting it out for the gold medal.
